About Fluorescent Yellow Vinyl - Permanent

Fluorescent yellow is a 100 micron semi-gloss day-glow PVC that is impossible to miss. Printed black or in dark colours it delivers the high-contrast look used for sale stickers, warnings, safety and hazard notices, shelf talkers and anything that must be seen from across a room. The colour is in the film itself, so it stays bright and even, and the print is waterproof and will not smudge.

Fluorescent pigments are not light-fast: the material is rated for around six months outdoors before the day-glow fades, so use it indoors or for short-term outdoor promotions. Our inks are slightly translucent, so pale colours printed on it take on a yellow cast; black, dark blue and red work best.

The adhesive is a permanent solvent-free acrylic that bonds well to glass, card, metal and most smooth plastics. It is a permanent label and is not designed to be removed cleanly, and it is not suited to rough or low-energy plastic surfaces such as car bumpers or ABS.

Description

Custom fluorescent labels & neon stickers, printed on bright day-glow vinyl

Eye-catching fluorescent labels printed in the UK on 120-micron neon vinyl, supplied on easy-peel sheets in red, orange, yellow, green or pink, with full-colour print, any size or shape, from a single label upwards.

Fluorescent labels are the brightest stock we produce, printed on a day-glow neon vinyl with a satin finish that jumps off the shelf. They’re made for grabbing attention fast - point-of-sale flashes, price stickers, sale tickets and clear warning labels that nobody can miss.

Printed in full colour with eco-solvent inks, these neon labels are water resistant and scratch resistant, so they won’t smudge or fade in a hurry. Use them indoors, or outdoors for temporary jobs of up to six months, on smooth surfaces such as glass, metal, card and most rigid packaging.

There’s no minimum order and no set-up fee - order a single label or several thousand, cut to your exact size and shape, and either design online or upload your own print-ready artwork. Need a metallic option instead? Take a look at our silver labels too.

Semi-permanent adhesive

A removable, low-tack backing that grips smooth surfaces yet peels away cleanly when the promotion’s over.

By approving your proof you accept the following. Colour is reproduced as accurately as possible but cannot be guaranteed to match your screen, a printed sample or a previous order exactly. Differences between rich (full-colour) black and single black, colours sitting near the edge of the CMYK gamut, fine tints and slight variation between materials, finishes and print batches are a normal part of the printing process and may not be visible on your on-screen proof. These are considered within standard commercial print tolerance and are not classed as a fault. Where any question of print quality arises, StickyThings is the final arbiter of whether a job has printed correctly.

Frequently asked questions

What colours do fluorescent labels come in?

Five bright day-glow colours - red, orange, yellow, green and pink - each with a neon satin finish. You then print your own design in full colour on top of the fluorescent stock.

Are fluorescent labels waterproof?

They’re printed on 120-micron fluorescent vinyl with eco-solvent inks, so they’re water resistant and won’t smudge when wet. They’re also scratch and UV resistant, which suits indoor use and temporary outdoor jobs of up to six months.

How strong is the adhesive?

Fluorescent labels come with a semi-permanent, removable adhesive only. It sticks well to smooth surfaces like glass, metal and card, but not to some low-energy plastics such as car bumpers and ABS. It’s designed to peel away cleanly, so it’s ideal for temporary promotions rather than long-term product sealing.

Can I order custom shapes and sizes?

Yes. Enter any width and height for a standard shape, or supply a vector cutter guide for a bespoke die-cut, and we’ll cut your fluorescent labels to spec and supply them on sheets.

What is the minimum order?

Just one. Order a single fluorescent label or several thousand, and the price per label drops as your quantity grows. If you’re unsure which stock suits the job, order a free sample first.

How quickly will I get my labels?

All fluorescent material is kept in stock, so we get straight to print once you approve your proof. For our current production and delivery times, please see our turnaround and delivery page.

Can you print fluorescent colours onto a normal label?

No. Fluorescence comes from pigment that re-emits ultraviolet light as visible light, and CMYK inks cannot do that. The glow is in the vinyl itself, which is why fluorescent labels are a separate material in yellow, orange, red and green, printed in black.

How long do fluorescent labels last outdoors?

Indoors they stay bright for years, but direct sunlight consumes the pigment and the colour fades noticeably within six to twelve months outside. Use them for interiors, events and temporary outdoor promotions; for permanent outdoor signs choose standard or laminated vinyl.

Fluorescent guide

Why fluorescent cannot be printed, and what that means for your label

Ask any printer for a neon yellow and you will get a bright yellow that is nothing like the sticker on a sale rail. That is because fluorescence is not a colour but a behaviour: the pigment absorbs ultraviolet and blue light and re-emits it as visible light, so the surface gives off more light than falls on it. Ordinary CMYK inks cannot do that. Fluorescent labels get their glow from pigment in the vinyl itself, which is why they exist as a separate material, and why they have their own rules.

Four colours, one job

The film comes in yellow, orange, red and green, all 100 micron PVC with a semi-gloss face. Each does a slightly different job:

  • Yellow is the most visible colour to the human eye and the standard for warnings and "reduced" stickers.
  • Orange is the classic sale and clearance colour, urgent without being alarming.
  • Red, a hot red-pink, signals urgency: last few, final reductions, danger notices.
  • Green is highly visible without urgency: information, "new", eco and safety messages.

Design rules

  • Print black. Black type on the fluorescent film is the highest-contrast combination in the shop. Dark blue or dark green also work.
  • Do not print colour. Coloured ink on a fluorescent film is tinted by the film and kills the glow. Let the film be the colour.
  • Big and few. One word or one price, as large as the label allows. A fluorescent label crowded with text loses the point.
  • No white areas. There is no white ink on this product; anything unprinted is fluorescent.

Screen colour cannot reproduce the glow, but the principle shows: black print, one message, and the fluorescent film doing the work.

Indoor for years, outdoor for a season

Fluorescent pigments are consumed by the very light that makes them glow. Indoors, away from direct sun, the labels stay bright for years. In direct sunlight the colour fades noticeably in six to twelve months, first to a paler version of itself and then to near white. That makes fluorescent labels ideal for shop interiors, warehouses, events and temporary outdoor promotions, and the wrong choice for a permanent outdoor sign. For that, use standard vinyl in a strong colour or a laminated label.

The print itself is waterproof and scratch resistant, and the film is rated from -20 to +80 degrees, so rain, condensation and a cold store do not affect it. The permanent adhesive bonds to card, glass, painted metal and smooth plastics.

Attention, not compliance

Fluorescent labels are superb for getting a message seen. They are not the prescribed safety colours of the ISO 7010 and BS 5499 signage standards, which specify particular yellows, reds, blues and greens with defined pictograms. Use fluorescent to draw the eye to a hazard area or notice; use a proper safety sign for the regulatory warning itself.

Different messages at the same size and colour share one order. If the colours need to shout and the branding needs to stay tasteful, print the brand on standard vinyl and add a fluorescent flash beside it.

This should have been a straightforward order but because I couldn’t save a draft design, ending up attempting to create the sticker more than 13 times and also didn’t know the typeface needed, I was late in placing my order not knowing there was a leadtime of 7-10 days. Vicky was so helpful in getting my design sorted. The order was eventually delivered the day before the wedding so cutting it very fine, but all’s well that ends well. The stickers looked great although some had some smudging…no one else noticed though.

Lexi

They look durable. The design is so crisp and shows quality of a very high standard.
