Waterproof Clear Labels
Custom printed with your own artwork
We produce quality clear waterproof labels & stickers for both business and home users. Our clear waterproof labels are supplied on sheets with a permanent adhesive and a choice of glossy or matt finishes.
These waterproof translucent labels can be stuck to metals, glass and many other smooth surfaces. They give the impression that the objects they are stuck on have been printed on directly creating that 'no-label' look.
Very popular in the beauty industries for labelling aluminium cosmetic tins and plastic containers. Also suitable for ink tins and other receptacles that carry hot or cold liquid.
We print using semi-transparent inks, so please note that if these transparent labels are stuck onto a dark surface the print will be less visible. If you require, we can print an opaque white ink behind your design to make it stand out, or just print in white ink if that's your intended design. You'll need to submit your artwork to us with a white ink layer if you require this option as it's not standard when ordering. Please read our artwork instructions for setting up a white ink. 70 micron Clear Waterproof Vinyl Labels
Our clear waterproof sticky labels can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications. They are available with either a popular glossy finish or a classy looking matt finish. All our clear labels are printed with eco-solvent inks which are themselves completely waterproof and offer a level of scratch and UV resistance. Ideally used for product labelling, they can also be used throughout thousands of other industries. They look great when stuck to glass or metal surfaces, especially aluminium.
When designing your clear labels, please feel free to add whatever colour you choose. From Pantone colours to solid and tinted colours, we support all CMYK colour formats. If you require certain areas of your design to be 100% opaque, you will need to refer to our white ink printing guide.
White Ink Printing
We use CMYK semi-transparent inks to print your labels as standard. If you are placing your clear label on a dark or coloured background, the background will slightly come through the design making it not very visible. If you do not require this, you can have white ink printed underneath your design to block-out the background. Please read the information regarding setting up your artwork for white ink printing in our artwork guide.
Our clear waterproof labels come with a permanent adhesive only. The adhesive will stick to all smooth surfaces except for some low energy plastics such as car bumpers and ABS plastics. If you are unsure, please order some material samples to test.
Our service is amongst the very best. We proof your design via email within a few hours of your order. Size & Bleed
Always set your artwork up at the correct size, it makes it easier for everyone involved. If any of your design bleeds of the edge of the label, ensure you add at least 2mm on artwork extra on each edge of the label.
We print in a CMYK mode. This means that all colours you see on screen can be achieved on the printed sheet. If you are designing your labels using RGB mode you will notice a slight colour shift in your printed labels when finally printed. This is because many colours in the RGB mode are not within the CMYK colour gamut. We convert your artwork to CMYK upon receipt if it has not already been done.
We advise you to set your resolution to a minimum of 350dpi at actual size. This ensures that all text and graphics when printed are legible. We will usually let you know if we feel that a design will not be legible before we go to print. This is however your own responsibility as we cannot always tell from the artwork file.
CMYK 100% Black
When setting up black text, always use the CMYK colour mode as discussed earlier. You will need to ensure all text is made from 100% Black only and not a mix of RGB or CMYK colours. We can not be held responsible if your artwork is set-up incorrectly and text doesn't print as crisp as it possibly could do. We provide these artwork guides to ensure you get the best possible print. Feel free to discuss any artwork requirements with us.
Clear / Translucent Labels
Using custom designed sticky labels means you only have your imagination to limit the projects. Whether you are a business, a DIY or crafter or a super-organised home ninja, there’s a whole host of uses for clear printed labels. The process for getting your clear or translucent labels printed takes just a few steps, making it one of the easiest ways to get the labels you need.
Need a clear label?
Although on many occasions, you may want an opaque label, there are some occasions when only a translucent label will do. If you want your sticker to stand out and scream for attention, in the majority of cases, an opaque sticker will be a far better option. However, if it’s a logo for a product, a label for a jar or even a window sticker you might find that a clear label is a far better option. Using a clear label means only the printed parts will be seen, thereby not blocking the product underneath from being on view.
How to design it
Once you’ve decided that a clear sticker will be the most suitable choice, you need to create the design. You will need to find the page of the product you want - there’s lots of choice over shape and size as well we the type of sticker you want - and then select ‘design online’. There’s an easy to follow tutorial which shows you how to upload your images and centre them correctly. The template indicates which areas will be cut off and where the ‘safe zone’ is, so you can be sure that the design you want will be in the right place.
If you’ve chosen a translucent waterproof label, the materials used will be extremely robust and resistant to the elements. You can select either a high shine glossy finish or a matt effect, to match the intended destination for your label. Not every surface suits the extreme shine of a glossy label. The sticker itself will be printed using 70 micron vinyl, a tough and durable material which has excellent waterproofing qualities. The inks used are eco-solvent which means they are not just entirely waterproof, but also have great resistance against scratching and UV light, helping to protect the sticker even further.
Choosing the colour palette
There are different design options which can affect the exact tone of the colour so it’s important that you check the technical specifications before going ahead. Stickythings Limited use CMYK mode to print in, and if designs are received in any other format, they will be automatically converted. This means that if you use the alternative RGB colour scale to design your image, there could be some difference in the final proof.
When using the colour black, you will also need to ensure you’ve selected pure CMYK and not a combination as this will dilute the end result. If you don’t follow the above printing guidelines, the final image may lack definition or not be as clear and sharp as you might hope. We know that this kind of technical specification can sometimes be a bit confusing so if you’re not exactly sure whether you’ve done it the right way, just drop us a line and we’d be happy to help.
We don’t hang around!
Once you’ve sent your design over to us, the proofing will be complete within just a few hours, ready for you to approve. Once you’ve check the electronic PDF proof, we’ll get your translucent stickers printed and out to you quickly, normally within 48 hours.
Translucent labels can provide the finishing touch to a number of different projects, adding elegance to any design. The end result will be tough and waterproof yet delicate and accurate, a budget-busting addition for both home and business.
